Associate in Science

Earn your wings through this excellent curriculum which includes flight training through a local FAA-approved flight school. This program provides you with the knowledge, skills and FAA certificates that are required to begin a civilian career as an FAA-certified flight instructor and commercial pilot. The program is intended for those who want to complete the A.S. degree and begin a rewarding career. Upon completion, you will have earned the following FAA certificates and ratings: commercial, airplane single engine land, commercial instrument, and commercial flight instructor or multi-engine rating.

You may receive college credit for previous flight and ground school courses, or currently held FAA certificates; however, awarding of such credit will be based solely on Florida Community College at Jacksonville’s evaluation of your certificate(s), training and competency. Once enrolled under the 2003/2004 or later catalog, you will only receive college credit for flight training earned through a Florida Community College at Jacksonville contracted flight school.  Prior to beginning flight training, students will be required to pass a flight physical from an FAA-approved medical examiner.
