Associate in Science

The Criminal Justice Technology program is under the guidance of an advisory committee composed of community leaders and administrators from local criminal justice agencies. This assures that students will receive modern, up-to-date instruction that is relevant to current practices in the field.

General education courses are offered in the day and evening.

Pre-College Programs

Andrew Jackson High School’s Criminal Justice Magnet Program offers dual enrollment to work toward the A.S. degree.

Special Topic

The Criminal Justice Bio-Terrorism course is recommended for a basic understanding of terrorism strategies, biological and chemical toxins, and methods that identify and neutralize terrorist groups and tactics.

Internships

This program is part of the FCCJ Co-op/Internship Opportunities Program. Your internship gives you first hand experience, college credits, a professional resume, as well as networking contacts and references. You’ll shadow patrol, homicide, burglary, special victims and crime scene investigation (CSI) units, and witness courtroom procedures from testimony to arrest.

Career Opportunities, Rapid Placement

This degree provides the opportunity to work within the various criminal justice agencies as counselors, intake specialists, clerks and other positions that support the operations. Twice a year, open house recruitment fairs allow you to apply for programs and positions with numerous local and state agencies, as well as the FBI.

Annual Salaries

Entry level salaries for range from $28,000-$36,000 for entry level positions.

Record of Conviction of a Crime


If the students enroll in an internship or cooperative education class and are seeking experience at a law enforcement agency or facility under Children and Family Services, then a background check is performed by the law enforcement agency or facility and the student may be denied employment (paid or non-paid) based on their criminal record.

University Transfer


This associate in science degree program is intended primarily for students who desire to complete an associate in science degree and become employed. Students who decide to pursue university transfer study must meet certain course and test requirements. For details refer to the university transfer guide.
